We are a couple in our late 20’s travelling on the Norwegian Fjords cruise. We have cruised on other Carnival lines but this was our first experience of P&O. All I can say is never again. We booked Britannia as we thought a modern, brand new ship would appeal to us as a younger generation of cruisers. However, never have I been so disappointed. I would also like to point out that I am not a serial complainer – I have never written a review before as I have never felt the need! For others who say “You get what you pay for” – well we paid more on a per night basis for this cruise than we have paid on other lines such as Cunard. All other cruise lines have infinitely higher standards than those experienced on this P&O cruise.
For those who don’t want to read my rather lengthily review I have summarised first the reasons for giving this cruise a 2 star rating:
Positives
Bergen was delightful. Beautiful coloured wooden houses line the harbour. We took the funicular (around £8pp) up the mountain which was well worth it - brilliant views of the whole city. Unfortunately the fish market - which Bergen is famed for - was not open in April.
There is not much to see or do in Stavanger. It is an industrial port and the heart of the Norwegian oil industry. I guess the cruise companies have to stop here otherwise it would take more than 1 sea day get back to Southampton
