This was our 2nd cruise on the Sun following an 11 nighter April 2014. Again a great crew, several of which we've gotten to know a bit with so many on board encounters, do to the fact that the officers and others are always around the ship including the Capt, hotel mgr Brian and CD Richard Matic. Food was as expected, not fine dining, as we only ate in the MDR , buffet, Great Outdoors and Sports Bar. Last year we did eat in Moderno which was excellent and people we talked to enjoyed it this cruise. Broadway shows were a bit week this time around, but some other shows were very good, "El Gaucho" and the comedian come to mind.
Our cabin could use a update but was clean and decent as was the bath (yes the shower curtain is a thrill-lol). Had an effort opening and securing balcony door and one closet door refused to stay completely closed, both minor irritants. Our steward, Francis, was the best we've had in the past 4 or 5 trips. Did two excursions from NCL, one Old Belize River & Mayan Ruins was excellent value even thou Prices went up just before I booked Atlantis submarine was a little disappointing, nobody's fault, just not as clear a view as expected and really crowded.
Had the UDP, a great value even though DW drank a bit less wine than usual. this was the cruise that rescued 9 Cubans on a raft, that was something different to remember. All in all a nice time with enjoyable fellow passenger, mostly adults. We love this class (size) ship, have no intrest in slides, rock walls, rope courses, etc. Aprx 2000 passengers is big enough for us ,with plenty to do, places to eat & drink without walking 50 miles a day aboard. Wish there were more new ones being built without going the luxury route. In conclusion, if you aren't a super picky type the Sun is a great ship.
