Firstly I have to praise the Port of Miami - this was our first time leaving out of this port - the whole port experience was unbelievably smooth - no waiting at all (except for the 2 minutes it took for the people in front of us to check in) - went right to our room (got there at approximately 12:30) - room steward was just finishing up. We had booked a mini suite - well - much smaller than expected to say the least -we usually cruise Royal Caribbean - this mini suite was just about the same size as one of their regular rooms EXCEPT the bathroom and shower were extremely good size - and the balcony was less than half the size of the ones on Royal. We brought extra hangers and were very glad we did - you can get extra from the room steward but they are the regular hotel kind - the hanger itself comes off the little piece of metal that stays on the rod. Food was good - not WOW, but good. Had no problems eating anywhere we wanted to. Only made dinner reservations for the first night - didn't really need to - never had a problem. The entertainment was exceptional - cruise director (Jersey Boy) was awesome - very energetic and caring. We only went up to the pool a few times - but never had a problem with seating. The adult pool was fantastic. Had never been in a deep salt water pool - water was way over my head (6'8") - couldn't drown if you wanted to - the buoyancy was awesome. The casino was also very well planned out. Had been told that the smell of smoke permeated the whole ship - I did not find that to be true (and I have one of those noses). Actually didn't see too many people smoking - except for at the pool (there is a little room for the smokers - THAT was bad - even walking by it). Now to the dress code - personally I think it was a bit too casual. Didn't particularly like seeing men sitting in the dining room with baseball hats on and hero shirts (not too many, but still. . . .) Our room steward was outstanding - she was never "in your face" - hardly saw her, but everything was always freshened up and the ice bucket was always full (my husband mentioned that to her when we got there). One thing we forgot to bring was a really large plastic cup (like a large tervis) - the cups on the ship are very small. We did buy something on the ship though. The hair dryer provided is perfect - full size - I brought mine but never took it out of the suitcase. (BTW, we fit all our suitcases (2 of them were huge) - right under the bed. We didn't got off the ship at the different ports - it was all about the ship this trip. So I can't speak to the excursions. When it was time to disembark - I thought that we were going to have a long wait - we had breakfast at O'Sheehans (excellent I might add) - and the line was growing and growing - but once we got in line it moved very quickly and we never had to stop again. Just kept walking - found our luggage right away - went right through customs (again - no line) - and then right to the garage and into the car - Port of Miami - VERY impressed with it!!!

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MA

Much smaller than I expected - should be referred to as a "little Bit Larger Room" :)

Room steward was exceptional (Athena) - best one yet (first NCL cruise - usually cruise Royal Caribbean).
