We have been on Adventure of the Seas at least three previous times including a trip last year when the ship had a propeller malfunction and didn't leave port for three days. The ship was in dry dock after that cruise and there have been some positive changes and some not so positive. First, the positives. The ship has had carpet replaced in public areas and has added a jumbotron TV to the main pool deck where they show movies (a.m. for kids, p.m. for adults) in the early morning and later in the evening if there is not an event on the pool deck. This is a nice feature but it seems to be underutilized. For example, when there is a pool deck party, the jumbotron could be used to show the crowd as they are dancing or to showcase the band. Neither was done.

The ship is immaculate (public areas and staterooms) and cleaning was going on constantly. Hand sanitizer stations are everywhere except on the pool deck where it would have been a nice feature (but I am a germaphobe!) and use of hand sanitizers (especially upon entry to the Windjammer) is (very politely and with good humor) enforced for good reason. It was very clear also that food preparation was handled with extreme attention paid to sanitary procedures. I watched the chef and line workers during the outdoor bbq and gloves were replaced often to ensure that no cross contamination took place.

Service personnel on this ship were really spectacular - whether it was the security person scanning us in from a port, the wait staff in the Windjammer and dining room, the personnel at the concierge desk, the cabin steward, or the people working in the shops on board, everyone was helpful and polite. This helped make the trip memorable.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E2

The cabins have new flatscreen TVs but everything else is pretty much unchanged (new toilet seats if you want to count that). The curtains were filthy and that made me unhappy, but we had port views for most of our stops and, although the cabin is identified as 'forward'' we were pretty close to midship. The only negative was that we were far from stairs and elevators so we were always taking long walks down the hallway no matter where we were headed.
