The cruise

Having done six sea cruises in various parts of the world, this was our first river cruise. We cruised on the ‘Scenic Emerald’ for 13 nights, on the Soane and the Rhone from Chalon sur Soane, throughTornus, Mâcon, Lyon, Tournon, Viviers, Château Neuf du Pape, Avignon, to Tarascon. Weather was sunny most of the time, but a cold Mistral blowing ruled out the upper deck for sun bathing. There were 50 crew members aboard and around 130 guests - 80% Australians, the rest equally British and North American.
