Cabin: The Haven 2-Bedroom Family Villa with Balcony

The original plan was to travel on the Breakaway in a regular balcony room and then do a review on what it was like to not be in the Haven, but the call of the Haven overpowered me and 5 days before we cruised I called to see if we could upgrade. We were offered a two bedroom suite on deck 15, so I whipped out my charge card and took the room. Best choice ever!

I had traveled on the Breakaway in December in a Haven aft penthouse suite and loved the perks of the Haven, but felt that the walk wore me out from the back of the ship to the front day after day, so I was excited to be in the Haven area this time. I traveled with my 22 year old son and a 18 year old "daughter", she has been like a family member since she was one. I was so excited for them to live the Haven life.

We traveled down from Albany on Amtrak. It was a beautiful day to watch the wildlife on the Hudson River. We saw two bald eagles, deer and countless other birds. We arrived on time, took a taxi to the pier and I got to see my travel companions face as they saw the Breakaway and both said it was huge! We handed off our luggage and went in to the terminal. Once you say you are a Haven guest you are whisked away from the crowds and lines. Once again the travel companions could not believe the amount of people in the terminal that we were passing by.

Cabin Review

The Haven 2-Bedroom Family Villa with Balcony

Cabin H4

This room is perfect if everyone has different sleep patterns. The 18 year old took the small bedroom with private bath. The 22 year old took the master bedroom and I slept in the living room because I get up early.

The living room is a good size, but does not have a closet. There was plenty of room for fold up clothes and I did not use every space. There is a desk which is nice for throwing cameras and I used the top drawer as a junk drawer just like home. We never felt crowded even when all of us were in the living room. The coffee machine is excellent.

The small bedroom has a lot of storage space. There is a closet and shelves as well as a shelf the entire length of the room which gave the teenage space to throw all of her clothes. The only complaint she had was the sound of water sloshing back and forth. We never figured out where the water was. She had no complaints about the bathroom and loved having her own space.

The master bedroom has too much storage space. There were 2 closets. Drawers under the TV and space over the TV. The makeup area had shelves and plenty of space for the 22 year old to throw all of his stuff.

The bathroom in amazing. The shower has room for two people and the jets are magic on a tired back. Once in the shower I never wanted to leave. We sometimes sat around the tub watching sunsets out the huge window.

The balcony is big enough for 4 chairs. We only had two chairs so we brought out chairs from the dining table. We really did not need a bigger balcony because we had the Haven Courtyard.

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

We were in the Haven so we were whisked past the crowds to a private lounge for check in. If you hate standing in lines then the Haven is the way to go.
