Sail Date: May 2015

Sailed on the intimate Prinsendam under the impression we would have an "elegant" experience on an "intimate" ship. The ship was "intimate" because of the size and not very elegant. Ship is old and HAL works hard to keep her in top shape. Yet the plumbing is a problem, toilets do not flush or back up. (fellow travelers had their toilet overflow and flood their cabin, forcing them to move to another cabin.) Not enough outlets in cabin to charge and use electronics (none in the bathroom at all). Walk in closets were wonderful, and room furniture, though worn with use, was far better than what I had seen on two previous Carnival ships numerous years ago.

Service is impeccable and shore excursions were wonderful. Food was mediocre with some cuts of meat very tough and inedible. All staff worked very hard and the ship was very clean inside and out. Public deck areas were the cleanest I have seen on any ship. Would I sail Prinsendam again, depends on the itinerary. I would definitely seek out a Statendam Class ship just bit larger.

Entertainment was fair, but due to size of the ship, the entertainment group was small..doing their best with what there was. casino, albeit small, was sufficient. It was easy to get around on the ship from stem to stern. Spa was too small and we opted not to use it. Pools were adequate, but mid ship pool did not have a retractible cover making it unusable when we went north to wetter/cooler climates.

Cabin A

Cabin was sufficient. Walk in closet was great. Not enough outlets (2). Furniture a bit worn.
