This is my 2nd time sailing with NCL. My first cruise with them was a 7 day Hawaiian cruise in 2002. I have sailed with Carnival 10 times, and I have yet to sail on the same ship twice, so a total of 12 different ships. NCL Getaway is a beautiful ship and has a lot to offer, and is one of the best ships I have been on thus far. I have a few bad things to say and it has nothing to do with the Getaway crew, or the ship it's self. NCL has cheapened a few things!! They have stopped serving lobster in the main dinning rooms. You have to pay extra to eat in the Cagney steak house to get lobster. NCL has also done away with the midnight chocoholic buffet on this ship, and they have a $7.95 charge for any room service deliveries. Carnival doesn't have an automatic fee for room service!! If I order room service I always give the delivery person a good tip, however I feel that it shouldn't be a mandatory set fee. I am very disappointed in NCL!! I feel they are trying to save a buck, and they are passing it on to the consumers. The sad part is, it's the people that can least afford the extras that are being targeted. Carnival offers more for the money, and they have a better variety as far as itineraries go too. I personally like the more relaxed atmosphere that NCL seems to have on their ships, but for future cruises I feel my money will be best spent cruising with Carnival!!

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BC

Our cabin was nice. The beds are way to firm. I like a firm bed, but this bed was like laying on a concrete floor. The decor and amenities in the room was great!! Our cabin steward was Ron, he was fantastic!!

Port Reviews

Miami

The port of Miami is absolutely stunning!! The Miami Beach area offers so many different great restaurants, and hotels. I would highly recommend Shuckers Bar and Grill for some cracked conch... I wish we had made more time to explore this area.

Tortola

In all fairness this port is a diamond in the rough!! It's a beautiful Island , but at this time the Island really doesn't offer much. They just opened up their new pier to the large ships. The new pier area is still under construction and it will offer a large variety of shopping and restaurants when it is opened.

Nassau

We have been to Nassau a total of 4 times now. We have found something different to do each time. Nassau offers a large variety of things to do. My favorite thing is to go get lunch at the Fish Fry. The Fish Fry is an area with several local restaurants and some local food vendors. I have yet to eat at a bad place there. However my favorite place is Curly's, see the manager there (David Ferguson) for a free Bahama Mama!!
