Just got back from a week to the Norwegian Fjords where the scenery is beautiful and would highly recommend this destination. We were excited to be travelling on the new Britannia and whilst this ship is impressive in many ways we felt let down by the lack of facilities for the large number of passengers on board. We often found ourselves looking for something to do on sea days even the library seemed closed with all the shutters pulled down and not a book in sight! The library was also hard to find, tucked away in a far corner of the crows nest but then we did find ourselves querying a lot of the ships layout.

There was no mid ship stairs other than on deck 5-7 which made getting around the ship difficult & all passengers had to walk along the same side of the ship making the corridor very congested at times. The lifts were always highly congested and you had to wait an absolute age for them.

We dont understand why the Theatre is too small for the amount of passengers as it meant missing some shows & we know other passengers also missed out, also the layout at the back was very poorly designed as the floor is the same level where wheelchairs are in front of you meaning you cant see the stage, why couldnt the floor be raised in the seats behind them. I assume passengers who said the theatre is adequate didnt sit in these sits or arrived nearly an hour before every show to ensure they had a seat. I also missed staff who greet you when arriving to the Theatre as on other ships. This ship often felt like it lacked personality and I personally felt it was due to these type of touches. Another design fault was the cup holder fixed on every seat which wasnt really a cup holder as it wasnt enclosed meaning you had to hold your drink anyway, so what was the point, in fact, they are more of a nuisance than a help as my husband kept knocking his hand on it and he suffers with rhumatoid arthritis which is extremely painful in his hands. There is a cinema on board showing some great movies but unless you have a front row seat you cant see the screen (badly designed) so totally pointless we therefore paid to watch a movie in our cabin. (there are also free movies on your cabin t.v which we felt was an improvement).

Cabin Review

Cabin Balcony

Comfortable bedroom, good t.v. and movie selection but bathroom is way too small, struggle to get in and out of shower. Lighting was not good and open warbrobe meant bathroom door brushing up against your clothes. Lovely big balcony but over looked as staggered layout at the back of the ship.
