Sitting in Houston airport waiting for flight back to PA and figured I'd pass the time writing a review since Cruise Critic was very helpful for my planning.
We've cruised about 12 times previously (1 prior time with Carnival) and usually stay in suites. Knew ahead of time that a suite on Carnival means a bigger room and early embarkation but no other perks. Houston airport to Galveston is rather inconvenient. We booked a Suburban car to pick us up through 24hr Katy Limousine. Service to and from the port was efficient. Glad someone else was driving. Arrived around 11 and the cruise was just calling 2nd group to get on. We breezed past everyone as priority and we're having lunch in the Lido in no time. Lunch choices were plentiful and desserts were especially good.
As Pennsylvanians we usually cruise out of NY or FL. The crowd on this ship was very different from other cruises. We loved Texans! Sure there was still some pushing and butting in line but once made aware the people apologized and were exceptionally polite. These people know how to have a good time. Also since schools aren't out yet there were not as many children as we've encountered before. The young children we saw were very well behaved, better than some of the adults.
Cabin Review
Ocean Suite
DH,DD and myself shared the comfortable cabin and even had unused drawers. Amoung,our Steward,introduced himself immediately and told us to let him know if we needed anything. The sofa bed remained down for the duration of the cruise rather than converting back to a couch during the day. That was fine with us. I'm sure if we asked it would've been returned to a usable sofa. Knew there would be no hair conditioner so I brought my own. Didn't realize no moisturizer lotion so made do. I'm dating myself-last Carnival cruise included the "goody basket" with samples. One evening 1 of 3 beach towels was not replaced. A simple note to our Steward fixed it.
