We were on the 5/9/15 sailing of the Getaway. On the sailing was myself, DH, DS (age 7), my parents and DH's parents. So 7 all togheter. All of us have cruised several times. This was the 11th cruise for DH and I but only our second on Norwegian. The first time was in 2005 so alot has changed since then. Our last five cruises have been with Carnival so that is who we have most to compare with.

We arrived at the port about 10:00 AM. We had to wait about 15 minutes for them to let us in the terminal, but once we were in, things went smoothly enough. We ended up in boarding zone 4. I thought we were there pretty early so I thought it would be higher, but they board zones 1-2 together, 3-4 togehter and so forth so it wasn't too long of a wait. We were boarding the ship at 11:55 AM.

The ship itself was very nice. We prefer the mega ships as I feel there is more to do for our son. And there was.

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

This was our third time in St Thomas. We had been to Sapphire Beach and Megan's Bay in the past so this time we decided to try Coki Beach. Coki was very nice. There were alot of fish if you are into snorkelling. It is a little rocky in one section and we found some glass in the sand as well, so be wary of that. Overall was a nice beach. I believe the taxi was $9 PP each way.

Tortola

We loved Tortolla. The locals seemed very friendly. The island was beautiful. We took a cab to Cane Garden Bay. It was one of the nicest beaches that we have ever been too (definitely top 5). The trip to the beach (over the mountain) was also very scenic and at times a little scary, but still fun. I wish we had more time to spend here.

Nassau

We have been to Nassau several times and it is not one of my favorite ports. I think the vendors are very pushy and the place is just dirtier than some of the other ports. We still got off the ship though and did a little shopping. DH and DS also arranged to go fishing with a private vendor. It ended up being just the two of them.
