This was the third cruise to Alaska in the past ten years for the wife and I, and the second time we have cruised aboard the Jewel. Our previous cruise aboard the Jewel was out of New Orleans in February 2014, for a W. Caribbean cruise.

We arranged our own flight into Seattle and the ground transportation to Pier 66. The embarkation for Latitude members was very quick and easy. We had a balcony, cabin 10160, the second to last cabin on the starboard side of the ship. The cabin was larger than an inside cabin, with adequate locker and drawer space for storage. The king size bed was extremely comfortable, the balcony area was relatively small, and there was a coffee maker and hair dryer in the cabin. The room was EXTREMELY QUIET; no foot traffic in the hallway.

While the cabin appeared, and smelled clean, the carpets in the cabin appeared to be very worn. Same for the small sofa; it looked old and showed signs of wear and tear. The general decor of the room appeared dated and needs updating. The balcony chairs were not very comfortable, and looked like aluminum patio chairs that came from a Big Lots two or three years ago. The air conditioner/heater worked great. The bathroom was your typical small stand-up shower, and toilet head (not very much room). The room steward was not the typical excellent steward we had become use to having care for our needs. He was good, but far from excellent.

Cabin looked and smelled clean, but looks dated and needs updating. The king size bed was the highlight of the cabin, and was extremely comfortable! The carpet in the cabin looks old and worn and needs replacing, ditto for the sofa sleeper. The flooring on the balcony needs replacing, and the balcony chairs are not very comfortable. On the good side, the cabin offered ample locker and storage space, and there was plenty of room to walk around easily in the cabin. The bathroom, what can you say, it is your typical small stand up shower, toilet head and wash basin ; not much room for moving about.
