Sail Date: Apr 2015
Cabin: Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

I researched extensively on Cruise Critic before sailing on the NCL Getaway April 18 - 25 over school vacation and wanted to write a review so others coukd benefit from our experience. My husband, daughter (12), son (11) and I had a great time, there seemed to be many fantastic experiences and several negatives, so I will list both :-)

First, Miami is a horror show - we flew into Ft. Lauderdale and stayed there before the cruise & got transport back and forth to pier - much cleaner, more enjoyable and safer option. Less than an hour drive.

Getting on and off Getaway was very quick and easy. We took off our own luggage and that worked well. Stayed in Mini-Suite #10234. Good location, small balcony, small room, nice shower, great water pressure, double sink. Tight for family of 4 but would stay in this cabin type again to save $$$ over 2 adjoining balcony rooms (there are not many of these for some reason?) Also I have to say we booked early, and I was frustrated that after we booked about 10-11 months in advance we were unable to get any of the free dining or drink package promos that were offered after. It seemed almost everyone else had one or the other.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MB

Cabin was small for family of 4, not exactly sure why it is considered a mini suite, maybe the pull out couch? Also the bathroom was larger, but did not have any "suite" aspect I am aware of. Balcony is small, as others have noted, but all 4 of us did squeeze out there for the fireworks. Large bathroom, nice shower, great water pressure. Asked cabin steward to empty mini fridge for case of water we brought onboard which was great on excursion days.
