This review is mostly for people who wonder if you can have a great time on a Disney cruise while doing it on the "cheap". The answer of course is YES! We were a family of 4 on this trip and stayed in room 2023 which is a standard, not deluxe, inside stateroom. Since we really only slept and got ready for dinner in the stateroom it was just fine. Our younger son liked the virtual porthole very much and loved sleeping in the pull down from the ceiling bed. In our room we had myself and my husband (6'1"), our teenage son (6'4") and our 9yr old son. This did make things tight when we were all in there, but the room was do-able. My older son never complained about the couch bed and said it was perfectly comfortable.
We booked through a travel agent that gave us onboard credit and we used that for our two mixology classes, which were beyond fabulous, our drinks and our shopping. Now we drink very lightly, averaging one or two drinks per day, and spent very little on souvenirs, but we never felt deprived. There is just so much to do that is free on board. We did take a port adventure, booked through the ship, on Cozumel, the Mayan ruins and highlights tour. This tour was very well done, but if you are going to the ruins, pack some good bug spray! The mosquitos were thick! We felt that the money was well spent and I was glad that the kids got this educational experience. The second stop was to a place where they show you how they make tequila and we loved this stop. It wasn't what I expected but it was fun and the kids got to whack a pinata while we grown ups tasted different types of tequila. My husband learned a lot and now we know what to look for when we got back home. We did not buy any liquor there although most people did. But remember we were on a budget. The rest of the cruise we did not get off the ship. There is so much to do and on port days it feels like it is your personal ship. When we got off the ship we only had a small amount to pay since we had already paid the tips before we boarded.
Now I know you will have read this on many, many posts, but I cannot stress how wonderful the service was! Our room attendant was excellent and our head server, Putra, was so wonderful that our youngest cried when we had to leave him behind! This was a 9 yr old boy we are talking about, so there was a real bond there.
This cabin is a standard interior and we were a family of 4, with three of us being full sized adults and only one 9yr old child. It was tight when we were all in there together, but that really was only when we were getting ready for dinner. The teenager would come in most of the time after we were all in bed and when we got up in the morning we left him sleeping. Lol. On deck 2 the hall is off of the main area where the elevators are and it is almost a hidden corridor. It was pretty cool. You don't get much traffic as the only people in the hall are staying in those staterooms. It was quiet and it didn't rock ver much being in the center of the ship and as low down as you can go. We only once or twice heard noise from the connecting cabin and that was happy noise from children in the middle of the afternoon. We plan to ask for this same cabin on our next cruise. Incredibly convenient to the Enchanted garden for breakfast too.
