This was my first cruise. Overall I had a great time and already looking to book my next one.

Embarkation - Pretty easy and painless. We drove up from San Diego and parked at the port for $19 a day. We thought about getting the Faster to Fun option for $50 to embark first. There was really no need for that in my opinion. We got in line about 11:45 to noon and were on the ship eating the buffet by 12:30 - 12:45. Our room was also ready. One other note is that we received an email prior from Carnival telling us that due to number of cruisers, our embarkation time was 2:30. We chose to ignore that email because we were excited to get on the cruise and didn't want to lose 2 or 3 hours on the ship. We had no problem boarding early.

Dining - The food in the MDR was hit and miss. The good thing is that the portions are on the smaller side and we had no problem ordering another entree or appetizer if we didn't really care for the first one. We chose the Choose Your Own Time dining which we loved. The longest we had to wait for a table was 2 or 3 minutes. The buffet was on par with your local Hometown Buffet. The morning brunch in the MDR was very good.

Cabin Review

Interior

We were pleasantly surprised with our cabin. We chose the most inexpensive option for an interior room that Carnival picks for you. We were midship on the bottom (Riviera) deck. The bed, sheet and pillows were nice. The bathroom was small, but adequate. We liked the shower gel that was provided. Only complaint is the number of TV channels. We received about half TV channels and half cruise information channels. Also no ESPN.

Port Reviews

Los Angeles

Easy embarkation. We didn't see the need for Faster to Fun. It took 30-45 min to board. Parking at $19 a day is a bit steep but it was easy in and out.

Cabo San Lucas

The city was more spread out so taxi fare was more. Great seafood. Lots of vendors trying to sell trinkets. People their are friendly and very proud of the city.

Mazatlan

Very friendly people. We wished we would have taken an excursion as we did t feel there was much to do. Had a great seafood lunch. Lots of police presence.
