This was our second Celebrity cruise. We have cruised to Norway with Thomsons and that was going to take some beating. On first impressions this ship looks unbelievable, five years old, recently refitted, what more could we want.
Activities on the whole were good, plenty to keep anyone occupied both at sea and in port. We did one shore excursion in the city of Alesund which was good and we both enjoyed it however I can't help but feel that shore excursions - not just on Celebrity - are way overpriced and for the life of me I find it difficult to see how this coach tour for a few hours justified the £110 per person price. Our stateroom was small for a balcony but comfortable and clean.
Getting parked at Southampton and subsequent embarkation went like a dream and Celebrity can take a pat on the back for that. Entertainment was OK. The two guest comedians were really good however the ships dancers/singers were no better than previous cruises.
Cabin in general was good, a bit small but no problems.
The weather was awful, torrential rain, so that spoilt the whole day. However we can't control the weather so, other than that, it would have been a good day.
Another poor day weather wise but this is a place of exceptional beauty and the meandering voyage up the fjord is breathtaking. It was even worth getting wet just to see the huge cliffs either side of the ship.
This is a lovely port city and the weather was superb even reaching 22 degrees. Plenty to see and there is a lovely old town right next to where we berthed. We sampled the local brew in the nearby port side bars and jest sat and watched the world go by. Well recommended.
