My wife and I are in our late 50s and have done 21 cruises mainly RC, Celebrity, and Princess. We were some of the youngest on the ship. If you are young, single, and looking for action do not do a transatlantic cruise in April.
We like Ft. Lauderdale and they have a great tranporation system to get you from the hotel or airport to the terminal. We stayed at Marriot beach place tower. The hotel itself was fine but finding it and getting in and out of it was among the craziest layouts I have ever seen in many years of travel. Once you learn it, it was ok. The taxi driver could not figure it out and dropped us about 100 yrs from the correct entrance which with luggage for a week long cruise was a walk.
Embarkation was very slow I thought. I have done two previous transatlantic cruises and sailed both Oasis and Allure megaships and this was the slowest by far. Once you got checked in, it was still a long line. For old and disabled this would be difficult. We had a passenger collapse after shortly departure and the ship turned around to go back to port to send them to the hospital. I am convinced the difficult boarding did it but this is purely my speculation. When you get on, go to alfredos for pizza or pasta before everyone discovers it.
