This was the first time I was travelling alone. Embarkation was a breeze. I found out that even though I was given an embarkation time, most people I spoke to ignored the times they were given and just went earlier. I didn't participate in most ship activities so cannot comment on them. Room Service is excellent although I would like a few more choices on the breakfast menu. Shore excursions are extremely good and very well organised. Many people were put off by the expense of them though, however I thought the 5 that I did were great value for money. The food and service was excellent in the main dining room in the evening and there was plenty of choice for breakfast and lunch.

My cabin was an interior, aft that could fit 3. It is very small and I found it just enough for 1. However it was very comfortable, quiet and dark, although looking tired and needing some tlc like the whole ship. Dawn Princess was heading to Singapore after the next cruise for a 2 week refit so hopefully lots of maintenance was being done at the same time. I didn't go and see any of the entertainment on offer as it didn't interest me. All the staff I encountered were on the whole very helpful and friendly and dining room staff at my table were fabulous. Disembarkation was well organised and very easy. Most of the time I asked fellow travellers if I had any queries. I did hate the way the lifts were set up, especially annoying if you are at the back, however given the age of the ship, it is just the design.

I enjoyed the pool area but it wasn't policed enough. There were people who hogged the shaded area by putting their towels and a bag on the seats and then also did the same with the sunny areas, just swapping from one to the other as they liked thus limiting the amount of pool seating. There never seemed to be a lot of staff around the pool area which was always busy on sea days. Overall I enjoyed myself but it does depend on your expectations and your willingness to go with the flow.

Cabin Review

Cabin C624

This cabin is set up for 3 people. I was travelling by myself and thought it was just enough room for one. There was a lot of drawers. Ample for 3 people but not enough hanging space for 3. The lighting isn't great especially if you want to put makeup on. The little stool provided is very uncomfortable but there is no room for anything else. The bathroom is very compact but adequate for one person at a time. It was very quiet and dark. It was looking a bit tired and old but the bed was comfortable and the cabin steward was excellent.

Port Reviews

Perth (Fremantle)

Easy drop off and pick up area. Lots of staff around to direct you and loads of taxis available on disembarkation. It was a really easy thing to do by yourself.
