Well, I do not know where to begin, I have been cruising with Carnival for quite awhile, and this had to have been the least of my favorites. For a ship that had been refurbished, you could have fooled me. When I got to my cabin room and opened the door, my first reaction was "oh my this is tiny" and I mean tiny ! The bathroom hahahah sitting down I literally had to put one foot in the shower ( and I am only 5'0) Very very uncomfortable. But that I could live with, since my room steward was great !! and after all how much time do you really spend in the cabin?. I also spent time on the Serenity area and found that there was not enough employee's cleaning up. Some cruisers came up there to eat, but their dirty dishes stayed for hours. I met a very nice woman sitting next to me, and we could not believe how "un-kept" the area was. She had also cruised on a number of other Carnival ships, and felt pretty much the same as I did. Then I think it was Wednesday, the day we were in Belize, when up in the Serenity area we got swarmed by bees !! Yes and I do mean swarmed!!. It was something to laugh about later, but not at the time they were there. A woman got stung about 4 - 5 times. There was not a deck hand around to help us clean up the dead bees, as many many people were killing them as much as they could. Now about the food, hmmmm I was assigned to the main dining room at the 6pm seating. The waiters were very nice, however the service extremely slow. Again, I have not found this to be the same on other ships. The time between the appetizers and main course could be up to 30 minutes. The food was hot, but nothing to write home about. I found it bland and not much flavor. Needless to say, I tried it again one other night and same service, so I chose not to go back, which is so unlike me.

The most fun I had was in the casino in fact I had a blast there, the dealers and coup managers were Fantastic, and were the friendliest I found.

With all that I said on the bad, please don't get me wrong, it was indeed a vacation and I made the best I could out of it. Carnival is a great company, I just think they have pulled back on personnel and it showed. But the good points, room steward, his assistance, the personnel at the front desk, the casino personnel all made the trip worth it.

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

It rained most of the day in Costa Maya, so I spent most of the day window shopping. I did find a man that was painting beautiful scenes that were 16/20 in size with spray paint. I think I must of sat there watching for a few hours.

Cozumel

Since we docked at downtown port, I jumped in a cab to go to the main port, as I wanted to purchase a certain thing that I knew was only at the other main shopping area at the other port
