Sail Date: May 2015

We just returned from a cruise down the Mosel River, then upstream on the Rhine to Basel aboard the brand new (3rd sailing) Viking Vidar. The experience was far beyond our expectations. Not only did the Crew perform as a well honed TEAM delivering OUTSTANDING Client Services, but they also handled a number of challenges along the way created by 'Mother Nature'. Viking's target market are the English-Speaking countries, Adult Travelers (no children under 18 on this cruise), and those capable of spending some $'s, but certainly not pretentious.

The on-board accommodations were truly superior. The dining menu was delightful and the meals artfully presented. Choices for dining were endless. The crew was exceedingly helpful and friendly. The Cruise Director, Hotel Manager and Head Libations Chemist were the best - both individually and as a TEAM, that we have seen in our 40 years of traveling the world. The ship's Captain and his crew were tremendously skillful in dealing with very high river levels which presented many challenges dealing with low bridge clearances and requiring alternative docking locations.

If you have a "Bucket List", this has to be on it. Viking's honed processes are sure to guarantee you and your traveling companions "one hellofa Good Time"!

Cabin Review

Cabin Explorer Suite

Outstanding on the stern. Wrap around exterior deck, two sliding doors, large sitting room, large king size bedroom, large bathroom with a super shower, nice hallway with closets. Furniture and décor very Scandinavian. We loved it and will be back!
