We were thrilled to be returning to Asia after 40 some years. My husband who had served in the Viet Nam war was finally ready to go back to that part of the world and revisit his past. The cruise took us to a port which allowed us to visit Hue and the location of his military duty.

We arrived in Hong Kong a couple days early and stayed at the YMCA. It was like no other YMCA I know of and was the perfect fit for us in price, location and amenities. We realized a taxi would be the best way to get to the terminal - and found the taxi driver although very nice and helpful - had never been to the terminal before and was amazed at how remote it seemed. There didn't seem to be any public transportation source available. When we arrived at the new terminal in Hong Kong, aside from the building being quite significant in looks - it was a disaster once we finally got to the area where we were to check in - the help was hopelessly incapable of dealing with the large group of people and it was the worst embarkation I have ever encountered - not a good start. Being Elite status we finally realized we could side step some of the confusion and managed to get on board in a timey fashion - but were feeling badly for all the people sitting or standing in long lines that seemed to be poorly managed. Celebrity really needs to work on embarkation issues in Hong Kong.

Once on board our room was ready and our luggage arrived promptly -everything took a turn upward. We enjoyed the ship even though it is aging. Found it easy to get around and found the staff professional and helpful. We didn't think the food was quite up to the standard of the past, but I actually considered that a blessing - less tempted to overeat and gain weight!

Hong Kong

A fabulous city - we used the Big Red Bus as our main transportation and was able to see a lot of Hong Kong without it being a overly expensive or complicated.

Taipei (Keelung)

We walked to the train station then rode the train into Taipei were we toured on our own including a ride on the local subway system. It was fun to really be a part of the local action and experience the terminals and local transportation.
