Sail Date: Apr 2015

We sailed on dawn princess from Fremantle to Singapore via Malaysia and Thailand . This was our second cruise the first being royal Caribbean. Embarkation at Fremantle was excellent ,quick and efficient , was very surprised since Fremantle is an old passenger terminal. upon boarding the ship you could see it was very clean and well kept although decor was a bit outdated. we had a balcony room. The room is small compared to royal Caribbean and the balcony is also very small, that was a bit disappointing since we were onboard for 12 days, but bearable not a deal breaker for us. the layout of the ship is confusing for a few days deck 7 and 12 are the only decks u can walk from aft to bow, we used to go to either of these decks to move from one end to the other . the buffet is on deck 14 front of boat , Because we were on deck 10 we would go to 12 walk to front then up another set of stairs from there . No problem if it wasn,t raining . the passengers were mainly older passengers ,at some times it felt like an old peoples home . the activities on board were mainly aimed at these passengers , which is understandable since they seem to be veteran cruisers and seemed to make up the majority of the passengers. the ship itself broke down for a few hours which was fixed quickly since it was a propeller bearing problem ,and some plumbing problems which were also fixed promptly.

we went on 2 port excursions which were just bearable , not a fan of any cruise excersions I have been on. The food at the main dining room and the buffet was of good quality and good variety. The steak house food was excellent. The ship is now in Singapore for a major refit which is a little overdue. The best part of the cruise was the staff, they were all very well drilled and trained . They remember you and your card number very quickly. the service on board was second to none and all spoke excellent English and went out of their way to help you no matter what. i think Princess has done the best it can do with this ship , not everyone wants a rock wall or bumper cars, If you do then by pass this cruise .
