In my opinion, the QM 2 is not a cruise ship, but is a ferry to get from one place to another. We like to take a transatlantic cruise to Europe each year and stay for a month or so. The QM2 is really the only ship returning to the US in May. We have made this trip 4 times and our opinion remains the same---The QM2 is not a cruise ship--it is a ferry with none of the service and activities of a cruise ship.

The embarkation on this trip was the worst I have ever experienced. We used the Cunard transfer from Heathrow to Southampton and arrived at the pier at about 11:00 AM. They boarded ALL priority passengers first and did not even begin embarking those of us who were not priority until after 1:00 PM. We have embarked at Southampton on all of our previous trips and have never experienced such a disorderly embarkation.

We always travel in a balcony cabin about mid-ship. Perhaps service is better for those in suites and higher class cabins but we found our service to be very basic with nothing special. The cabin is clean, and basically in good condition although the balcony could use some repair. The shower was good and we were able to adjust the room temperature to our liking quite easily. We always order flowers for our room and they do a beautiful job with the flowers. A bit of an indulgence, but I love it!
