Sail Date: Apr 2015

We planned a trip that included a week in Rome before we started the cruise and a week in Sorrento when we returned. The cruise was a perfect fit because it gave us a chance to see additional ports in Italy plus Croatia. We utilized the ships excursion in Turkey but for the most part avoided the ships excursions. In most of the ports you can use Hop on Hop off busses or find another couple to share a taxi and see the sights. In Ephesus we were glad that we used the NCL excursion. An interest in History is almost a requirement for people booking this kind of vacation.

We felt the entertainment and food on board were good to excellent. We book an inside cabin and feel that is sufficient for our needs.

NCL offers discounts if the ship is not full and you can save additional money if you are willing to travel a little out of season. The spring trip to Italy in 2015 benefited from perfect weather.

Taormina (Messina)

We took the advice we read here on finding the train in Messina and going up to Taormina. A perfect side trip.......with the usual anxiety of getting back to the port on time. The train worked perfectly and we had a delightful time in Taormina
