The ship holds over 5500 guests from over 50 countries. If you're looking for a large ship to sail on, this is your baby. The destinations are good, and we've been to all of them before. The days at sea are fun, and we were able to relax during the 3 days at sea. The destinations were Nassau, St. Thomas, and St. Martin. The ship board activities are too numerous to mention, but if you get bored at sea, it's your own fault. Everything from Zip lines to cup cake making are available on board. The staff is tremendous and willing to please the passenger.
The cabin was good. Adequate storage for clothes. The bathroom is compact, and the shower is tight but works just fine. Lighting is good. We had a problem at night with the A/C which seemed to go off late at night. The balcony is OK with 2 chairs and a table. The TV choices are minimal, and we saw CNN and Headline News most of the time.
We rented a car and drove around the Friday PM and went shopping. We had flown down a day before the cruise and enjoyed the stay in Ft. Lauderdale. We found a shopping center and spent a few hours there.
We decided to visit the local rum factory rather then take a tour of Nassau. We took a cab there, and the facility, while not operating since it was a Sunday, let you walk around and wee how the rum is processed. We were able to sample the various rums they made, which was great, and then took a taxi back to the port. The shopping in Nassau is minimal, and going to the straw market is fun if you like bargaining for goods.
St. Thomas as most experienced travelers know, is a shopping mecca. Having said that, we avoid the 'preferred' shops that the ship recommends. We enjoy shopping at independent stores that give us better customer service then other places. Buying liquor is easy there, and it was delivered back to the ship so we got it delivered on
Friday night. You need to figure the price of the product you want to buy at home first before putting anything on your credit card in Charlotte Amalie!
