We chose this cruise because it was a smaller ship and we could drive to Baltimore from Canada and avoid dealing with abysmal airline service. We were apprehensive after reading some previous reviews and now realise that you cannot please some people no matter how great your service is. We have cruised on Holland America, Celebrity and RCL, previously, and have had varied staterooms from inside, outside, balcony and suites. We chose a suite for this cruise as it was a treat for a birthday and 40th anniversary celebration and I can honestly say that we will want to go with a suite again on RCL the service was superb. Our only option when we booked was the Owners Suite 8004 as all else was sold out. On reading the reviews of this suite it was suggested not to choose it because it was below the Windjammer Restaurant so the noise was unbearable imagine our surprise when we found the noise which was the occasional rolling of trolleys in the morning did not disturb us at all. The suite was fabulous. The suite concierge service is beyond reproach much better than on Celebrity I might add. The staff on the Grandeur are great always pleasant and eager to give you the best service always with a smile.

My one complaint is, as usual, people who place towels on deck chairs for hours and never return to their place and deck staff seemed to be non existent or not willing to remove them even though there are signs posted to avoid this really annoying habit.

The port of Baltimore was very well organised with both embarkation and debarkation although we had priority as suite guests I would hope that this applies to all passengers.

Port Reviews

Baltimore

It was an easy drive from our hotel and on entering it was a breeze to follow the signs to luggage drop off and parking as there were also people posted along the way. Security and embarkation were very well organised as was debarkation.

Cozumel

We really did not enjoy this port, we were there 32 years ago and it was much better without all of the stores and people continuously haranguing you to go to their store. We realise that people have to survive economically and cruises bring in business but it was a very unpleasant experience as compared to the other ports we visited.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

A very pleasant port enjoyed the tender in from the ship, enjoyed the stores and the fact that no one pressured you into buying. Easy to walk around, very relaxing.

Labadee

The final stop on our cruise an absolutely beautiful port, what a gem for RCL. We sat and looked at the ocean did a few walking trips and had great BBQ brought from the ship a great way to end our tour of the Western Caribbean.

Falmouth

We really cannot say too much about this port the area where the ship docks is very nice lots of different shops no hassles and very relaxing. It was unbearably hot that day so just sat in Jimmy Buffets and have a margarita.
