Overall:
While we had enjoyable experiences on the cruise this was due more to the ports of call rather than the ship itself. Overall the cruise fell well below our expectations. The quality of food was not much above fast food / cafe standard and the entertainment was very variable. The ongoing actions to contain the norovirus outbreak only lessened the enjoyment, with some facilities/activities suspended and the normal procedures of the ship life significantly disrupted for the entire duration of the cruise.
Virus issues aside, we thought that Celebrity would provide a superior cruise experience - they did not. Their poor management of the virus outbreak (a problem of their own making), confirmed that we will not cruise with Celebrity again.
We had a balcony room on deck 9. Perfectly nice room - very clean, reasonably spacious, with a very comfortable bed. Bathroom, with shower and toilet, was reasonable size for a ship cabin. The balcony was a bit small, but sufficient for a table and two chairs. The cabin staff kept the room spotlessly clean and tidy throughout the cruise - cleaned/tidied 3/4 times a day.
Used a hire car to go sight-seeing around the city, port areas, beaches and La Jolla. We enjoyed our 2 days here prior to the cruise. La Jolla is a particularly nice area with great restaurants.
We hired a car locally and drove around the town and then up to San Jose Del Cabo. Around the harbour was nice but very commercial/touristy. San Jose was really not worth the visit other than to see the style of town/living, and seeing Chileno beach - lovely little spot.
Took a local bus to the main town/beach area. Walked along the bordwalk at Malecon. This is a very pretty area with lots of art work and a wonderful old church. Had lunch at a boardwalk cafe and enjoyed just taking in the scene.
