We are experienced travelers in our mid 70's. We have been on the big ships - Princess, Celebrity, Oceania, Holland America - and three other river cruises. The staff on the Skadi was by far the most pleasant, efficient group that we have ever come across; especially Gary the Program Director and Daniel the Maitre'D (and master of everything else). The staff did not seem to know the word "no". They met every request and every problem with a wonderful can-do attitude. They were truly exceptional. The shore excursions greatly surpassed our expectations. There were many more tours than the brochure indicated. Some days we went on two different tours at no cost. Besides, there were optional tours that were very fairly priced. Of course, the star excursion was the trip to see the 7 million tulips. Awesome! It was downright cold on some of our excursions. Mid 50's does not seem cold, but it is when combined with gusty winds. We were so glad that we brought layers which we could wear all together, and gloves. Should have packed a wool hat! The dining was more than adequate, and there was always something that appealed. There were steaks (the rib steaks were exceptionally good), salmon and chicken that were always available, and then three specialities of the night. Disembarkation was a breeze thanks to Desi, the concierge. She paired us up with another couple that was also heading to The Hague on their own, and we procured a van for us. Since we left a little later than most, we watched smiling Gary, Daniel, Desi get everyone onto the buses.

Cabin Review

Cabin Standard

We had the least expensive cabin, and it was perfectly adequate. If the night stands had drawers we would have been able to stow our "stuff", and the cabin would have looked a lot neater. Because of the chill in the air, we did not miss having a balcony.
