My Husband and our daughters have been on approximately 10 cruises. 5 with Norwegian and 5 with Carnival. We went on Royal Carribean for the first time this past April. We were so excited as we have heard so many wonderful things about this cruise line. We were greatly disappointed to say the least. It started out with no real welcome. No champagne, no sail away party, which is what we are used to with other cruise lines. Actually, the whole cruise was alot like that. Dead... No fun at all. The shows were the worst I have ever seen. We walked out of one show as we couldn't take how boring it was. Hardly no activities going on. The only one I constantly seen was trivia if your into that? The cruise director Jaime was by far the worse I ever witnessed on any cruise. The staff is overworked, underpaid and very unhappy. This was the only cruise that I ever heard staff say to my family that when there contract is up they are going back to there countries. Our waiter "said that he had 2 months left and would go back to his country to be a waiter at a Sheraton ." He said he worked 12 to 13 hrs a day 7 days a week. This was not the first staff member to tell us this. We met an 18 yr old girl in the buffet area that said she can't take much more. The hours are killing her and the food they get is horrible. She said she has lost so much weight that her parents may not even know her when she gets off. She plans on leaving after her contract and attending college. It's really sad how these people are treated. The food was horrible. The worst we have ever experienced on any vacation. Buffet was the same crappy everyday. Lots of hot dogs and hamburgers, salads and fries. Dining room lacked in choices everynight. No shrimp cocktail either, which I was used to on other cruises and meals were cold. This vacation was so disappointing especially when you only get one a year. Ooh by the way we called RCIL to tell them about our experience

They said thanks for calling. It will help us with future cruises. No apologies. .. Nothing. We will Never cruise with RCIL. They are very dissapointing and all about the Benjamins. We already booked next year's cruise with NCL on the new breakaway. I know we will have a better experience!

It was average until our room steward chased us down on the last day for his envelope with his tip in it. Royal Carribean administration told him we dropped our gratuities at the beginning of the cruise so I guess he was expecting his tip before we left.
