Embarkation
A friend dropped us off at pier #2 around 11:00 A.M. although we had heard that boarding would be delayed until 2:00 P.M. There were no lines and we were processed quickly. Those who arrived around 1:00-2:00 P.M. barely made embarkation and some even missed the muster drill we were later told.
While going through checkpoint, I was asked if my bottle of water was "liquor" and was informed that they had to confiscate my open container...yes, of water! I was carrying a small ice chest full of soft drinks and mineral water which they didn't bother with. While waiting to board, we sat at a table with some friends who were "Diamond" status and were soon informed that there would be a 1 hour delay because of a coast guard inspection. Our friend noticed that some people were getting cookies but the group sitting in the diamond section was not so she mentioned it to someone from RCI a few minutes later some crew members appeared with a table, table cloth, and big containers full of sparkling wine, glasses, and cookies and the wine started flowing...this lasted until embarkation. WOW, HOW IMPRESSIVE! Someone with a portable microphone said that it would be another hour until boarding, mumbled some unintelligible words and then said "you should have listened the first time, I am not repeating myself"...joke or serious? Not sure...
Very small stateroom compared to any Carnival cabin but very quiet area. Beds and pillows uncomfortable and beds too small. Center table should be removed. Fridge doesn't keep items cold. Plenty of cabinet and closet space. Shampoo includes conditioner and is ok. Bathroom vanity ok for space. Bring a bungee cord to keep the balcony door opened. Watch for soot if you hang your bathing suit on the balcony to dry.
