Our first cruise saw us leave Southampton on board Britannia bound for the Norwegian fjords and I cannot believe all the negative reviews about Britannia on here. From embarkation to disembarkation, our trip was simply awesome. All staff on board were polite, helpful, caring, considerate and jovial. The food (and we ate in four of the restaurants -including the buffet), was divine. Our G deck cabin was spacious and our attendant was helpful and courteous in every way. The cabin was cleaned every single day.
As for Britannia herself, what an advert she is for Britain. She literally stopped traffic in every port. Inside, the Antrim is a sight to behold but she is equally as tastefully well dressed on every single deck. Cleanliness was second to none on every single deck. The entertainment was well worth seeing- especially in the Headliners Theatre which provided shows to West End standard. I found time to enjoy five a side football games whilst others enjoyed table tennis, quoits, etc. For the less adventurous, the crows nest offers relaxation with superb views, drinks and even a well stocked library. With 2000 people on board, the logistics of port disemabarcations must have been a nightmare to marshal but it was done most professionally and easily. Britannia IS a very large ship and the lift arrangements can involve some extensive walking - so be prepared! That being the only down side I observed, I can most certainly recommend a trip on board this new acquisition.
Decent space, excellent bed, ample clothes storage plus a sofa and a Shower. Extremely clean and maintained so, daily. Complimentary real champagne and litre bottle of water supplied and a nice touch is the chocolate sweets left on the bed each evening.
Very little to do - especially on a wet, cold day. Couldn't believe the Cathedral was closed during the day. All in all, a disappointment for a final port of call.
Took ages to get through the terminal process due in no doubt to the number of cruises leaving that day. Alphabet queuing ticket system is confusing for inexperienced users.
