There were a few nice touches NCL Getaway provided like a dance floor and dance band in Tropicana Dining Room, and an easy embark and disembark. Burn the Floor is a fantastic dance show. But that is all the positives I have to say. My biggest concern was the cigarette smoke that emanated from the casino to all 3 decks (6, 7, & 8). You could not come into any of these areas without smell of an old bar that had been closed up for years and reek of stale cigarette smoke. You just did not want to be in those areas.

The design of the cabins made them impossible for 2 people to walk thru at the same time. Should leave doors off closet because you cannot get into them without climbing on sofa. Balcony so small that if you sit in the chair they provided, the back of the chair would be against the window to your room and your knees of the railing of the ship. All of the public areas have been cut in size, consequently, you always felt like you were crowded. The cut the length of the public floors so they could include extra staterooms on the end and therefore there is a smaller areas for public amenities. Pool area entirely too small for number of guests. Buffet always crowded and hot. Open to doors to outside bars made most of public areas hot also.

Forget about paying for a drink package. The bar service is extremely slow and inconsistent drinks were mixed. You could wait as long as 15 or 20 minutes before a bartender even acknowledged you were waiting for service. If you want a vacation filled with stale smoke, crowded areas, tiny staterooms and balconies, bar service that was almost nonexistent, and almost the exact same thing served for breakfast and lunch every day....then this is your ship. Now if you want to take your children and grandchildren -- they will have fun--but breathe nothing but smoke for 7 days!

Cabin Review

Family Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B2

Nice bathroom layout. Rest of stateroom was the worse one that I have ever had in my 58 cruises. Small, noisy, tiny-tiny balcony, and unusable closets. My husband and I felt extremely crowded and were forever bumping into each other. I cannot imagine a family in this stateroom

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

St Thomas is over used as a port of call and is usually very crowded. I guess if you want to buy jewelry, you would certainly have your choices because there are a lot, and I do mean a lot of jewelry stores. New mall to walk to downtown from Havensight docks is nice.
