Carnival Fantasy is a nice ship. Overall the food is good. The dinners are very good. The shows were good, especially the Tribute to the Beatles. While at high seas the upper level of the ship was closed due to very strong winds. There were a lot of folks sea sick. They have meds you can take, but they knock you out. Progreso was the best part of the trip. We toured the village on an old double-decker bus for $2. Drank $1 Coronas at a place called "Buddys"......where a bunch of ex-pats hang out. Ate a very large shrimp cocktail at a local market.....$5....and couldn't finish it!!! Cozumel was a bummer. The port was closed due to inclement weather. Numerous excursions were canceled......we didn't get to snorkel. So we went shopping.......big mistake.....once you make a purchase, the street vendors spot you as a potential sale and they are relentless. Return trip "Fun Day at Sea" was difficult....the Gulf of Mexico can be rough during the winter. Big Tex the cruise director is a cool guy, but impossible to get to talk with.......especially on departure....he shows the other side of his personality. On the Lido deck with the pool they serve drinks which are expensive....and they push the alcohol bigtime. A "bucket of beer" (4 beers) is $17.50!!! If you like bingo, your going to be disappointed....they call out the numbers like they are running a Nascar race. Our room steward...her name was "Bonk" and she was very friendly and very competent. She is the only person we gave an additional cash tip. We did receive a fuel supplement refund of $10 each....a total of $20 against the initial charge of $90. We were advised that for several hours oil was at $70.58.....which was 58 cents to much. This was the only part of the trip I felt like we were ripped off. We met some very friendly people from all over the U.S. If it wasn't for the rough seas......the cruise would have been much more enjoyable. I would not recommend this cruise in the winter months.

Cabin Review

Cabin out

Don't ever accept cabin M-1. It's all the way up front. During high seas you will be sick.
