My husband and I have been on 8 cruises and this was our first Princess cruise. We had a wonderful trip on the 15 night Hawaii cruise on the beautiful Ruby Princess. Upon arrival at the cruise port, we felt it was a bit unorganized with all of the luggage porters roaming about and mobs of excited vacationers with luggage trying to track down a luggage porter. There was absolutely no organization. It would be nice if someone from Princess was outside by the luggage drop off to organize lines. Once we were able to get our luggage on a porters cart, the rest of the boarding process went smoothly. We were in a mini suite on Emerald Deck 8, cabin E731. It was a wonderful suite if you don't mind the back of the ship. We did have rough seas a few nights and definitely felt the motion while trying to walk around the ship and while trying to sleep. We were not bothered by this motion but knew we were rocking.

We had Anytime Dining and this was the first cruise for us where we had this option. We enjoyed the freedom to eat whenever we wanted. We always seemed to eat after 8pm and never had a wait for a table. Service was good. We also decided to eat dinner in the Horizon Court a few nights. We enjoyed every meal we had on the ship from main dining rooms to the pizza parlor, International Cafe, Carib Cafe and the Trident grill. We didn't have a chance to eat in the speciality restaurants on the ship but heard several other passengers say they were wonderful.

We went to most of the after Dinner shows and thought they were all good. We enjoyed all of the activity in the Exploreres Lounge most every night. We spent a lot of time in the casino and thought the staff and all the passengers at the 3 card poker table were wonderful. We had such a great time in the casino with all of them.

Cabin Review

Cabin AE

We did feel it was time for cabin updates. Our cabin was in desperate need of new mattresses, new pillows, new curtains, new couch, new carpet and the sliding glass door and the balcony glass needed a good cleaning in the worst way. We put the glass door and balcony glass cleaning on every comment card we were given. I sure hope that was done for the next passengers. Our cabin did show it's age as I am sure most cabins did. The layout was nice and the amount of storage and closet space was wonderful. I highly recommend this cabin and will book the same cabin if I am ever on the Ruby or a sister ship again in the future.
