Just got back form a Mediterrranean cruise, sailed on the Eurodam. One of the best cruises ever. Elegant ship, wonderful and friendly crew, great food (especially at the Lido buffet, great variety). Fresh flowers in all the public spaces. Two gifts were waiting for me in my stateroon, an invitation from the Captian to join a few cruisers for Brunch the next morning and a complimentary drink package (15 drinks a day allowed). WOW! what did I do to deserve this - a great touch. The casiono was great, I never gamble, but tried the slots and won $20.00 - yea!
Also booked a pre-crusie hotel stay for 2 days thru Holland America. Picked up at the Barcelona airport by a chauffer driven Mercedes, taken to the lovely Melia Sarria Barcelona hotel, Very nice hotel, great staff and the most wonderful breakfast buffet. Taxi was cheap to get to La Rambla and the other sights. Found two small restaurants a few minutes walk from the hotel, 3 course dinner for 9 euros per person, could not beat that. With my little spanish, it was not an issue talking with the owners of the restaurant, just very nice people.
Shopping on Diagonal (the street behind the hotel) was wonderful, prices were so reasonable, El Corte Ingles, Zara, H and M and 2 shopping malls are just a few minutes walk from the hotel.
Large, very clean, bed very comfortable. bathroom was also spacious. Cabin Stewards, Ardi and Martin were extremely attentive and pleasant.
Facilities at the port of Barcelona are clean and comfortable. Embarking on the Eurodam was quick. Even had time to shop at the duty free shops at the port. Great view from the port to the unusual W Hotel and the Mediterrean.
