The Viking Gullveig cruise up the Danube was simply a delightful experience. From the beginning to end Viking made sure guests were informed and taken care of. We missed our connecting flight to Budapest. We called Viking Gullveig and they had someone waiting for us when we arrived. The short ride to the ship with other passengers was the first indication that Viking cares for its passengers. Getting our room was easy. The quarters were tight but extremely well planned. We had enough room for our clothes to hang in the closets and put in drawers. Glad we had the French Balcony -- truly enjoyed waking up to the scenery. A balcony might have been nice however you really are not in your rooms very long -- not sure it is worth the expense.

Shore excursions gave a nice overview of each city we visited. The guides were informed and had a sense of humor. In the afternoon my husband and I went off on our own.

We met a lot of interesting people in the dining room and lounge. This is where Viking excels. Meals were never rushed. We especially enjoyed eating lunch in the more informal Aquavit Terrace. The lounge had a piano player who encouraged us to dance and sing along. Viking brought on several entertainers who were equally enjoyable.

Cabin Review

Cabin French Balcony

Small but well appointed. Our cabin was always tidied up by the time we got back from breakfast. We were on the second deck which was perfect. Close to the dining room, stairs to the lounge and sun deck. Rooms are very quiet. We couldn't hear the shower going in the rooms that were adjacent to us. We slept soundly which enabled us to gear up for the next days activities.
