I am a loyal RC cruiser (Diamond Level), but some friends wanted to go and they selected the Carnival Victory from Miami. I went along with it and figured why not give them a chance.

Upon arrival, the boat just looks worn out both inside and out. The decor was dark and dingy, and it just felt dated. One could not tell this boat was just in drydock.

Food, well, food was sub-par. The best thing on the boat was the pizza station on the back of the boat and the al-a-carte coffee and desert bar on deck 5. Food service over all was by far the worst I have ever experienced. Dining room waiter literally slopped plates down and often touched the food with his hands as he handled the plate.

Cabin Review

Interior

Cabin 4F

Actually a decent sized cabin. The bathroom was worn and often had the smell of a retirement home. I had a very nice cabin steward (probably the nicest guy on the boat, Haru). I did have to have the linens changed twice because they had stains on them from previous use...which rather disgusted me. The boat still has TUBE TV's in the room. This isn't a big deal, but adds to the "dated" and "worn out feel" of the Victory.

Port Reviews

Miami

Port of Miami is kind of neat, but the parking is a joke. No covered walkways, no crosswalks, no crossing guards. Parking is $20 a day, which is about standard.

Key West

As a Floridian, I frequent Key West quite a bit. It is a fun place to visit as it has a lively nightlife and beautiful water. Plenty to do in Key West, but try to do it in the evenings. Carnival arrived in Key West at 7:30am. Any Floridian will tell you Key West doesn't come alive until at least 3-4pm.

Cozumel

What is not to love about Cozumel and it's beautiful blue waters. I did a dive excursion here outside of Carnival (thru Deep Blue) and it was fantastic other than strong currents (which are usual for Cozumel). Shopping is good, food is good. Don't need to travel far to enjoy the island.
