We had sailed through the Panama on the Star in Nov. 2013 and had a wonderful experience but this cruise to Mexico was a big let down on the same ship. Aside from it being a Spring/Easter break cruise with tons of kids and not able to use the hot tubs or pool, the biggest disappointments were the following (small things but they all added up):

no instructions for cabin phone, no pen or paper in cabin, no room service menus or cards, guest services never answered their phones, TV & outside web cam did not always work, bad attitude from front desk staff when requesting help with these items, very limited activity opportunities that did not involve some kind of sale/purchase, breakfast room service order cards not processed when put on door at 9 pm, short staffed at front desk to answer phones (1 person) and in lounge areas. There has not been a followup survey for the cruise from NCL hence my joining Cruise Critic. Maybe NCL will get the word this way.

Small but satisfactory for our needs. Conveniently located near elevators. Did not have instructions on phone for use, we were supposed to know that numbers are printed on the daily newsletter. Who would have thought?! No pen or paper to write notes. No room service information or order cards. TV and web cam didn't always work. We had to request those from guest services who never answered the phone because there was only 1 person on the staff that handles calls. It took us a trip to the front desk to find out how to work the phone and get the cards.
