This was our fifth cruise with Princess, first on Grand Princess. We did have an enjoyable cruise, had done this cruise on the Star Princess a couple of years ago so knew what to expect.

They changed the embarkation routine this time and after checking in we had to sit in a large room for probably 1/2 hour before being lead onto the ship. Bad move from our point of view as checking in then walking up the gangway and into the ship always makes us feel "yeah we're on vacation". Disembarkation back in Vancouver was great, no time wasted at all. Likewise US Immigaration in Honolulu was really quick.

The ship itself is in bad need of some TLC. We like the layout of the ship as we have been on the Golden and Star Princesses but this one is in pretty bad shape. We were on the Lido deck L307 and loved it, bigger stateroom with floor to ceiling and wall to wall windows. Very convenient and quiet as four rooms share a small corrider. A lot of the ship had a moldy/mildew smell and buckets were everywhere collecting drips. Some of the washrooms around the ship were in need of care and not as clean as expected. The whole ship just had a neglected look, didn't matter how much they cleaned, it did not have the shiny/sparkly look we have come to expect on cruise ships.

Cabin Review

Cabin CC

Great cabin, bigger than normal. Floor to ceiling and wall to wall windows. Bathroom small but shower bigger than usual. Only 4 cabins in small corridor area so quiet
