i had read that the Spirit was the oldest ship in the Norwegian fleet so I was a little apprehensive about this cruise. We were pleasantly impressed by the decore and shipshape nature of the Spirit. Everything was clean and polished and in working order.

It was our first experience with a balcony and the were impressed. Not the biggest but big enough to sit and read. The cabin was a good size but I missed a small side table next to the bed (it didn't fit due to the small couch which would be the third bed). The cabin would have been too small with a third person. The safe was inconveniently placed almost at floor level.

The food was ok but nothing exceptional. My wife and I like the Freestyle cruising idea - no formal place or time to eat. We wandered through the bistro and had the odd salad or desert but that was it. Others were very keen on the reasonably large variety. We ate the majority of our meals in Windows, a formal dining experience. Especially liked the formal breakfasts but not the poached eggs. Other reviews mentioned that the meals were not warm enough but this was not our experience (except for the toast). Our biggest dining disappointment was at Cagney's. People gave it rave reviews but not us. It was overpriced, the size of my starter was a joke, the vegetables were bland and the lobster I ordered was tiny and dry. For $30 plus 18% gratuity, it was not worth it.

Clean, reasonable size and in a good location. It was close to Windows and the Raffles buffet. It was quiet too. The shower drain was a bit slow but the maintanence man showed up and fixed it.
