We have cruised on several different cruise lines and found Princess to be Average at best. The ship itself (Ruby Princess) was nice. Good layout, lots of pools, many balcony rooms. Great bars and entertainment venues.

My biggest complaint was the food. It was far worse than other cruise lines we have been on (NCL, RCL, and HAL). We found it mostly bland and boring. The baked goods were all very dry and tasteless. They need a new baker!! However, there were some highlights. I have heard complaints about the coffee. We liked the coffee, even the room service coffee was good to us. The room service breakfast was fine, but the only warm food was a breakfast sandwich. They advertised a egg, bacon, and cheese sandwhich. But you got ham instead of bacon.

The Caribe Cafe had better food than the Horizon Court (buffet line). It's food actually had flavor and style. The Specialty Restuarants (Crown Grill) was inconsistent. We had one good meal and one poor meal there. But if I am paying extra ($25 per person), the food should be fantastic. The service was poor in the Crown Grill as they were severely understaffed. The waiter did the best he could, but he had no help. In the standard dining room, each table had 2 waiters. In the Crown Grill, one waiter was handling multiple tables.

Cabin Review

Cabin AC

The size of the mini-suite was nice. It included a large closet, 2 TV's and a sitting area with a couch. The balcony was ok, but they need better furniture on the balcony. The balcony sticks out over the ship, so folks above can look directly into to your balcony. The upside, is that we had great views from the balcony though.

The room wasn't cleaned well though, before we left and the bathroom mirrors had spots. During the cruise, the room wasn't vacuumed daily. The bathtub didn't drain properly, but they fixed it immediately, once yet became known to them.

Port Reviews

Honolulu

We have been to Oahu many times. So we rented a car and went to the North Shore. Everyone should see the normal tourist stuff on Oahu. But if you have already done that , then rent a car and go to the other side of the island.
