CRUISE CRITIC FOR NORWEGIAN SUN April 5-12

Departed and Returned to Tampa. Visited Roatan, Belize City, Costa Maya, and Cozumel. Total of 7 nights on board.

This was our first cruise on Norwegian, but far from our first cruise. I have been on Carnival, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, MSC, and Holland America for a total of something like 14 total cruises with 5 of them last year alone. I say that to show that I did have something to compare it to.

Cabin Review

Oceanview Porthole Window

Cabin OG

We had an ocean view cabin and when we opened the door our first words were 'sure is small'. That evening when the cabin attendant opened the sleeper couch out, it got even smaller.

It did have better storage with the baskets in the closet but I would have preferred more space which I suspect was sacrificed to allow more room for all the specialty restaurants.

Port Reviews

Belize City

Very safe and the people there seemed to all be happy! Prices were very good and there was plenty of choices instead of the same thing in every shop! It was a hot, hot day and the beer was as cold as you could get! The people were fun and did not hound you like you find in many locations.

Tampa

Great embarkation but debarkation was a bit of a mess given people can leave as they please. I parked just down the street at Park4Cruise and though the lot was a bit of a mess it was obviously secure. I apparently failed to lock the van when I got out on the morning of the departure but nothing had been disturbed when we got back.

I can't say enough about how efficient the embarkation was.

Costa Maya

This is basically nothing but a shopping area. We did find some things that were quite reasonable and something that weren't. Make sure you walk over towards the Dolphin experience as you can get some pictures there of people with the Dolphins.

Roatan

This was our second trip to Roatan so we knew what it was like. DO NOT GO TO FAR AWAY FROM THE PIER ON FOOT! The small shopping area across the street from the straw market has some of the most beautiful wood working you will ever see. We have learned however from Customs officials you have to be watchful for unwanted pests bored into the wood. This is not a safe port like many others so if you find yourself the only tourist in a place while on foot get back to where you find others.
