Sail Date: Nov 2014
Cabin: Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2A

We sailed as a party of 5 on our second cruise with celebrity (the first time was with the Equinox). Prior to sailing we had read a number of indifferent reviews on the Infinity but were happy to give it the benefit of the doubt. The staff as with all cruises we've taken were great and happy to assist us with anything we asked - up to a point. My wife and I had stateroom 7173 which was our biggest disappointment.

There was no process for the provision of tender tickets when tendering at Cabo san Lucas which turned out like a scene from Ben Hur as approx 200 passengers charged to pick up tender tickets. (We saw one pensioner fall as a result of the melee - fortunately she was not injured). Only 2 members of staff involved in providing tender tickets with no queuing in place, it was disgraceful.

Fine dining was good, though portion sizes were small and often the food was lukewarm - we had to return one meal which was cold. That said, our food waiters were excellent and did their best for us. The Ocean View cafe had a good selection but it seemed everyone wanted to eat at once, so finding a table for 5 was always difficult.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2A

Cabin 2A

Firstly, the ceiling in the stateroom creaked continually. Being light sleepers this was a real pain and despite their best efforts it couldn't be fixed. We were advised that it was because the ship was old. The bathroom and shower could at best be described as third class. The grout on the floor was dirty, floor tiles were cracked and the shower curtain hooks were a health hazzard. I've never seen so much rust on shower hooks and demanded they be immediately changed (which took 2 days). The coffee table in the room was also rusted and the balcony so poorly maintained we hardly used it. It looked like the most recent balcony re-paint was completed on rough seas, paint splashes on the floor and glass balcony, paint peeling away in other parts and dirty smudges on the floor. I was very surprised at Celebrity, more so given their brand of being "Modern luxury". The stateroom door had a one inch gap at the bottom ensuring the room was never in complete darkness and their insistance of vacuuming the corridors after midnight ensured being kept awake. I have photographs which I submitted to Celebrity to ensure no-one else has to put up with what we had to.

Port Reviews

Cabo San Lucas

If you're into water sports this is the port for you. We're not, so it was a gentle amble through the town, though the heat surprised us. We were expecting the temperatures of San Diego but it was much warmer.

Puerto Vallarta

A bright and modern city. Extremely hot and we searched for air conditioning at every turn. Wethought a november cruise would be best to get some cooler temps.

Colon (Cristobal)

Colon is the most disappointing port we've ever stopped at. If taking this cruise, don't bother to get off the ship and make use of the extra space on board as others disembark

San Diego

We spent 5 days in San Diego prior to embarkation. Our fav city in the States - laid back, friendly and a definite to return. The embarkation process is a bit frantic but all staff were very helpful.
