Sail Date: Feb 2015

We cruised the Caribbean on the MSC Divina from February 28 through March 7, 2015, visiting Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. Contrary to some of the previous reviews we had read, we found the overall experience to be excellent. It had the feeling of a European cruise. All ages were represented.r The cruise director stated that MSC primarily uses the language of the port of embarkation for every cruise. Ours was out of Miami, so the primary language for announcements and shows was English, with occasional multiple languages. Printed daily announcements were available in many languages. We estimated the guests to be 25% US and Canadian, with a few from Asia and the rest coming from all over Europe. The crew was friendly and attentive. Meal service was timely and well-paced. The food in the main restaurant (The Black Crab) and the buffet was good. We did not try the specialty restaurants. The ship was clean and sparkling. Our balcony stateroom was comfortable and spacious enough for a party of 3 adults. The evening shows were highly entertaining, especially the singers. We were diverted from Falmouth to Ocho Rios in Jamaica because of high winds (the ship could dock at Ocho Rios, whereas tendering would have been necessary at Falmouth). Tendering at Great Stirrup Cay and George Town, Grand Cayman, and the embarkation and debarkation operations were all reasonably well-organized and efficient. We thought some of the shore excursions were overpriced, considering that you could do the same on your own for much less. We were disappointed that they asked 45USD for a tour of the ship; Celebrity cruise line offered multiple tours of different departments for free. To sum up, it felt like a trip to Italy combined with a Caribbean cruise; I had a GREAT time!
