We just got back from our 11 night cruise aboard the Norwegian Pearl to the Southern Caribbean. We chose this trip due to the itinerary and also to celebrate 2 milestone birthdays. Hopefully my review will cover most aspects of our trip.

Embarkation -

I am a little disappointed in the way NCL does their embarkation in Miami. We had a suite, and suite gets are supposed to get VIP check-in and boarding. However, when you arrive, everyone goes through the same security checkpoint before you get to the check-in process. By the time we got to the terminal, the line was quite long. Since there was no VIP line to go through security, we had to wait in this line with everyone else, which took at least 20 minutes. So much for VIP check-in. NCL used to check you in BEFORE the security checkpoint and then would usher suite guests through the security checkpoint immediately after the VIP check-in. I know it sounds picky, but if NCL is going to promote this as a perk for suite guests, it's not really accurate. As a suite guest, once you get through the security checkpoint, you are ushered into a separate room for check-in. Once check-in has been completed, you are escorted on to the ship and taken directly to Cagney's for lunch, which is a nice suite perk.
