This was our 3rd time on the Getaway -- and it was a charm just as were the previous cruises. Capt Tommy, Hotel Dir Errol and Asst Hotel Dir Errol -- as well as Martin, Jose, Rashida, Jocel and others -- are excellent in the jobs and strive to make the cruising experience a good one. CD Joel (Jersey Boy) is a professional entertainer and quite good at his job, too. The high visibility of the sr staff & officers makes a difference. We loved the Vibe -- which was a great place to get away from the 2000+ under-age-25 passengers. So many unruly children whose parents were absent from their children who were running out of control most of the time. So many examples of negligent parenting! Megan's Bay -- taxi $8/person + $4 admission -- was great -- to the left of the restaurant the beach is less crowded. Enjoyed Bernard's Tour #2 in St Maartin. Economical & good time at several venues. On board welcome & farewell shows were super fun! Enjoyed the Illusionarium -- but the show wasn't as good as Wine Lovers-The Musical. Loved Burn the Floor--again. The "overhang" for the veranda on Deck 14 cabins makes a difference in keeping the sun off the veranda in the afternoon. Not a lot of noise, but some, for our aft cabin at night -- but it shut down by midnight. Lunch at the Fish Fry in Nassau was quite good -- fresh seafood for a change! Enjoyed breakfast in Savor & Taste rather than going to the buffet. Also like the Cuban-style food in the Flamingo as well as the out-door area near there.

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BC

Accessible cabin -- more than adequate for our needs.

Port Reviews

Miami

Easy on/off for the Getaway. Clean. Cabs/vans/shuttles easy to locate and personnel are available for assistance. Easy cab ride to airport. Luggage assistance available and helpful in off-loading from cab.

St. Thomas

Cab ride ($8/person) to Megan's Bay plus $4 admission. Nice, clean beach with not a lot of current or waves. The beast area to the left of the restaurant is far less crowded and there's a restroom at that end, too.

Nassau

We walked to Junkanoo Beach -- there's some glass and lots of coral on the beach, so beach shoes are recommended. From there, we walked to the Fish Fry area and had a good lunch of fresh fish. Have also spent the day at the British Colonial Hilton -- very nice. Booked on-line. Beautiful beach, lovely setting, quite serene.
