These were our first Royal Caribbean cruises (we did back-to-back Mar. 15 and 22) after three on Norwegian. My sister-in-law loves RCCI and recommended this itinerary and we did love it! It was just the right amount of busy with sea day downtime. We felt the Adventure of the Seas was a lovely ship - the promenade was what we really liked as Norwegian does not have that feature. The common areas were all clean and well kept, etc. The only thing I found was the ladies washroom next to the Windjammer really smelled bad - like they were having a sewage/plumbing issue. Didn't love the nights they had sales going on down the middle as it made navigation around that area difficult. We really loved some of the crew and chatted with them frequently.

We did My Time Dining and thought it was great as that's the way we eat on Norwegian as well ("Freestyle Dining"). We could go whenever we wanted and didn't have to wait longer than 5 minutes, and with the exception of three nights out of fourteen nights we were seated with Desmond and Cany who we thought were the most excellent waiters. The meals were good and tasty, right temperature, didn't have to wait too long for food. Desmond and Cany would bring us their recommendations even if we ordered something different just so we could try them! They never steered us wrong. There were a couple of exceptional meals which we enjoyed. The Windjammer was good most of the time, but a few more selections for people who like to eat healthy for breakfast would have been nice. Didn't pay extra for any of the other venues - seems silly when we have a perfectly delicious Italian restaurant in our home town that we enjoy and another great burger place (NOT Johnny Rockets!). We've always felt a cruise should include ALL dining venues and not be nickel and diming guests the way they do. And while I'm on a rant, charging extra for Ben and Jerry's - really? We didn't pay for that either, I can just order it in the dining room at dinner. Having said all this regarding the dining, Norwegian was just as good or better - especially the buffet venue.

The entertainment was good most of the time - we really enjoyed the Beatle Maniacs and the Love and Marriage game show. We participated in most of the group games and had a blast. The crew was excellent with one exception and I think she was just frazzled (one of the guest services girls) - I think she had just had enough of rude people, as we witnessed while standing in line. One of the shore excursions fellows was getting blasted over the phone by a guest but he remained very professional and apologized to us for the wait. Why do people have to be so rude and obnoxious to these crew members? Some people need a lesson in manners, ruin for everyone around them - they're on holidays, enjoy yourself! Anyway, just sayin'. Our room steward Tris, was excellent and very accommodating and always had our cabin made up nicely. I liked the towel animals and I don't know why people complain about how many towel animals they had while on their cruise - really? Get over it, those rooms stewards work hard.
