We took the Viking Alsvin on the Grand European River Cruise and it far exceeded our expectations. Our chief was Manuel and the food was phenomenal. Regional specialities were prepared throughout the cruise. One night a Best of Germany feast was prepared. It was incredible. There were delicious cookies at the coffee station from noon to 5 pm daily. The staff was absolutely incredible. Mary Ann, Christian, Goran and Mae Lyn were our servers. They knew what to serve us without our even asking. Daniela made killer cosmos.

Every small detail was thought of. There were bottles of water and umbrellas when we left for tours. Warm towels and hot chocolate or warm cordials when we returned on the very coldest of days.

Oliver Freytag (sic) arranged the tours and activities. He was full of energy and personality. He went above and beyond making sure the passengers were safe and everyone's needs were met. We asked for a guitar for one of the passengers to play and Oliver purchased one for us. He was so excited to present it to us to use. On my birthday I was given a cake, champagne, and chocolates. They even make me a cake out of towels in our stateroom.
