we booked thru carnival agent for the cruise. my husband does not have a drivers license so my son called & asked what was needed. he was told "drivers license." i didnt believe it so i called. and my son called again. we were never told 'birth certificate.' well after traveling 12 hrs. to get there, my son and his family were told they could not board because they only had drivers licenses. no birth certificates. we will take part blame, as we never read the contract. we believed the agent. my son was very upset and ranted. as a cop put his hand on his gun. now my 12 yo granddaughter thought her father was goin to be arrested, hazed, or mazed. she was hysterical. they could not go on the trip that we planned as a family celebration. we were celebrating our 50 anniversary, my sons 50th birthday. my 70th birthday. I had even called and spoke with someone other than who we booked with and ordered cakes for our different celebration. we never got any of the cakes we ordered for each of the celebrations. i couldnt even take pictures because i didnt want my son and his family to think i was showing them 'look what you missed.' after carnival 'looked into the matter', they came back with 'the agent told you you needed a birth certificate.' ah! i dont think so. her word against ours. but that's okay we take partial blame. the remaining four of us were zombies just goin thru the motion. turned out carnival rerented the cabin. guess they got on in cozumel. so carnival lost no money. they made money. luckily my daughter and her husband pushed us to get off the boat so we did take one excursion. we did the salsa Salsa. and it was really very nice. I didn't think i would like it much less my husband. but he got up there and danced with his daughter. he even volunteered to make a hot and spicy salsa for everyone to taste. not like him at all. but we were not involved with anything on board. some of the other excursions we booked were cancelled because the water was too rough. all in all we had a miserable time.however; the steak house was great. well worth the money. the steaks were melt in your mouth fabulous. we were even given a free bottle of wine, as I believe everyone In the dining room was. our cabin was very clean as were the hallways. the whole ship in general was immaculate. could not complain about a thing. everyone was friendly and helpful. however, the headboard in our room was disgusting. food overall okay. not great. i used a wheelchair and the staff was very helpful and went out of their way to help me. we did book for next April so we can see these ports thru the eyes of my 12 year old granddaughter. looking forward to the next one!

because we had problems boarding the ship I cannot rate this very high. I will say there was one security agent Hispanic that was wonderful. I only wish I could remember her name.
