This was our 3rd cruise with Celebrity and the 2nd on the Summit. We chose the cruise because of the itinerary: sailing out of San Juan, 5 ports, and only 1 day at sea. We traveled with our children (ages 12 & 14) and stayed in adjoining rooms 6093 and 6095.

After traveling this summer with our kids on the Summit to Bermuda, we were uncertain about sailing the Summit again. This summer our kids were board due to lack of activities and venues available to kids. Three days at sea on the Summit were too many for them. But, this cruise out of San Juan was great! We spent most days in port, showered and changed upon returning the the ship, ate dinner, watched a show, and went to bed. The itinerary was busy enough that the kids actually enjoyed their "down time" on the ship.

Embarking and disembarking in San Juan and at all the ports of call was a breeze.

Cabins are small, but clean and well organized. There was plenty of storage and the shower was a nice size. As others have stated, the Summit is an older ship and shows a little wear on the balcony and in the tile work of the bathroom.

Port Reviews

San Juan

Old San Juan is a beautiful, quaint city. We spent most of our time walking around. The forts and old, Spanish architecture are impressive. We stayed one night in Dream Apartment Old San Juan which was on a quiet, residential street.

St. Croix

Gorgeous Island! Shuttles to various places on the island are available once you exit the pier. We took one 1-2 miles down the coast to Sand Castle on the Beach Hotel. Staff were pleasant. We had the use of the beach, shower, bathroom, and swimming pool. Beach was sandy and nice for swimming. The restaurant was good; I recommend the shrimp and grits!

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Took a taxi to Cockleshell Beach ($5 per person each way - arrange a pick up time and pay upon return) On the ride to the beach, we stopped at a lookout over the narrow part of the island where you can see both the Atlantic and Caribbean seas....very pretty. We rented chairs and umbrellas at Reggae's. The beach was pretty, but crowded....good people watching. Make sure to walk further than Raggae's ...the beach is not nearly as crowded, more beautiful, and prices less expensive.
